Ministry of Labor and social affairs disclosed that the ban on Ethiopian citizens traveling to some Middle Eastern countries has been lifted.
Ethiopian gov’t put the restriction on travelling for work to Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan and other Middle Eastern countries.
The ban has been in effect since 2013 in a view of establishing a concrete mechanism by which citizen’s rights and benefits would properly be respected and provided.
The ministry stated the ban was in effect until a bilateral labor agreement has been formulated
Accordingly Ethiopia has so far signed an agreement with Jordan and Kuwait while preparation is underway to sign an agreement with Lebanon, UAE and Bahrain.
Pertinent bodies would give details regarding lifting of the ban and other related procedures, ENA reported.
